A Wild tusker, known as Kasera Komban, was found dead in abandoned septic tank in Kerala Malappuram. The tusker used to be affectionately called "Kasera Komban" due to its remarkably long tusks, which resembled the arms of a chair, stretching nearly three feet in length. A bullet was found in the body of ‘Kasera Komban’, the wild elephant that died in Cholamunda, Nilambur.

Since 2010, around 100 electrocution deaths of elephants have occurred in Odisha. The majority of the electrocution deaths are attributed to live wire poaching. An adult tusker died of electrocution in Talagarh forested areas under the Baantala forest range of Angul district after the animal had come in contact with a live wire.
